Music, Its Importance & The River and the Road

Music is awesome. It can be the centre of attention or just exist in the background and contributing to moments in life. For me personally not a single day goes by without me listening to music. So.. you won't be surprised if I tell you I'm listening to music right now ^^
Music ads another dimension to every part of my life. Whether I'm working out and listening to music to give me that extra push to be able to finish my routine or me needing motivation to go on studying for my exams.  It ads this little extra something to these daily tasks and also increases my happiness level a lot. Of course the type of music I listen to changes according to the task at hand: like previously mentioned right now for example I'm listening to some music not too loud to cancel out my thoughts but loud enough that I could still sing along.

I'm listening to one of my newest discoveries: The River and the Road.
It's a Canadian band I came across a few weeks ago. They are based in Vancouver and describe themselves as folk band. In 2012 they released their first studio album titled "The River and the Road" and they were just touring through Canada and Australia.
I personally like the album a lot, because it's very down to earth and it has a lot of soul. The songs I like the most are "Separate Ways (One for the Road)" and "Straw, Brick & Wood". They are catchy and lighten my mood instantly, which I often rely on after getting out of bed and starting my way through the city jungle to get to University or Work.
Here's their soundcloud link if someone is interested to check them out. It is really worth it.

Anyway: I'm a picky listener myself so what I'm trying to do here is not to review the most recent Beyonce album, but to inform anyone who's interested about what I am currently listening to. Since I discovered in my own personal surroundings, I know that most people still mostly only get their music because they heard a song on the radio. I want to broaden your horizon a bit because I think there are so many talented artists and bands out there who are worth to be heard and exposed to a greater audience.
Due to the fact that I hardly ever listen to the radio myself I often create mix-tapes and playlists especially for the car. "Separate Ways (One for the Road)" is the first song on my latest playlist, which I'm planning on posting soon.

Until then:
Cheers,
Mags
